  • tips for toe-up

Posted by trish on October 2nd, 2007

A collection of useful links for toe-up socks and short-row heels.

    • A short row heel method without yarnovers or wraps from Cabezalana: The Sherman Short-Row Heel.
    • Another short row heel without yarnovers or wraps, said to be simliar to the Japanese short row method, but without the pins, from Kaity: The Easiest Way to do a Short Row Heel.
    • A good tutorial with lots of pictures on a Wrapped Short Row Heel from CosmicPluto.
    • From Kathy, Grumperina of Jaywalker fame, we have a nice stretchy bind-off, and tips on extending the toe and short-row heel with a bit of stockinette here.
    • The original Knitlist writeup of the Sherman heel, by Mary Sherman Lycan.
    • Misocrafty’s tutorial of the wrapped short-row heel from Wendy’s Toe-up sock pattern.
    • From Denise Powell toe-up lesson on Socknitters.com, EZ’s sewn bindoff and the single rib grafted cast-off (like the Kitchener stitch) here.

This is a good list, thanks. I still haven’t found a short row heel that I’m 100% happy with.
