twin rib the second
Posted by trish on June 22nd, 2006

Thought I’d show the progress I’ve made this week on the second sock of the Sockotta Twin Rib socks (from Sensational Knitted Socks). These are being knit for my mom, but I think the next ones will be for me! I’ve been faithfully knitting only on this sock for the past week, and it is growing slowly. But I’m starting to gather up ideas for what to knit next, sock-wise. Here’s the beginning of the list of the next possible socks:
- Moni’s Fisherman Socks from the Sockamaniacs Sockalong group, maybe using my Lisa Souza Sock! in Seafoam. Or the Nancy Bush Chalet Socks from Folk Socks.
- Knitty’s Crusoe Socks in one of my STR colorways. Inspired by Knit Flix’s Lite Brite socks.
- Knitty’s Potomatus socks
- July 1st I plan to start the Maple Leaf socks with the Townsend KAL group. Not sure yet which yarn.
- Jaywalkers. Just because I haven’t done it yet. May do it toe up, following Natalia’s directions.
- More patterns from Sensational Knitted Socks.
- Celtic Cable Sock from Verts Creations, in Regia Silk in a pale blue-grey.
- Spiral Eyelet Sock in Opal Petticoat in purple/green (sock of the month from Fiber Nooks and Crannys
and there are more on the mental to-do list. But that is a start.

Wow. That’s a lot of possibilities! I really like that Opal Petticoat sock. And the P socks are always very cool. And the Celtic Cables are great. I think I have the same shade of Regia Silk you mentioned. Someone told me that the Regia Silk isn’t the greatest for cables, because it’s too soft for good stitch definition. I haven’t researched that (ie, swatched) yet.

I’ve knit the Potomatus socks and the Crusoe socks from your list. The P socks are great…I’m submitting mine to the State Fair in the fall. The Crusoe socks I can’t wear anymore. The stranding makes them very non-stretchy…they were very hard to get over my heal when they were new. After a couple of washings, I couldn’t get them on anymore. Very disappointing because I had hand painted the yarn myself.
